Twitter is the place to be for heads and principals. Don’t take our word for it, this is how TES put it:

We couldn’t have put it clearer ourselves. If you’re still not convinced, check out what Ann Haydon, head of school at Harrow School, Hong Kong ([@HeadHarrowHK](https://twitter.com/headharrowhk)) had to say about the matter:

> “Love it or hate it, Twitter has changed the way we communicate, changed our ability to communicate! It now has 284 million monthly active users and 300 billion tweets since it started 8 years ago. So why are so many head teachers still rather reluctant to tweet?”

### **4 Reasons why your headteacher/principal NEEDS to be on Twitter**

- **Communication: **Celebrate and showcase school achievements and smaller #SchoolStories. 
- **Collaboration:** A way to get directly involved with key education debates, collaborate with teachers, exchange ideas and insights. 
- **Community:** Developing a wide network of school ambassadors and build relationships.
- **Development: **There are a wealth of resources out there on Twitter. The platform allows you to find and share resources that you may have never found, otherwise.

### **4 steps to becoming a #TweetingHead**

- **Establish**: Create a Twitter account.
- **Listen & Research:** Follow thought-provoking accounts, lists, and topics.
- **Participate**: Start to Retweet and comment on other people’s Tweets. 
- **#JoinTheConversation**: Create your own opinions and Tweets for others to follow.
