#DigitalJedi Flickr Training Stage 4: #SocialSith

I sense a disturbance. Darkness in The Flickr. We must train you #DigitalKnight, it is imperative.

First, we must showcase your work. Go to your About page and under your description, you will see the Showcase section.

Clicking the pen icon next to Showcase will allow you to rename it to whatever you like. Perhaps the name of your school, or if you wish to have a rotating showcase it could be named after specific events such as sports days.

To add pictures to your showcase click on the plus icon on the right. This will open up a window displaying your Photostream and Albums, here you can either pick the individual pictures to be displayed or choose an album to be featured.

Vanity and pride are the marks of the dark side, but still, you persist, forging your own path through The Flickr.

It is time to give back to those around you, or perhaps you wish to entice them to the dark side, either way, it is time to write a testimonial for a contact of yours. To do this go to their profile page and scroll to the bottom of the page. Here you will see the option for writing a testimonial, after it is sent the recipient will have the option to accept or reject it, so make sure you write...well!

There will always be the option to edit these testimonials later down the line and likewise, the recipient will be able to review your amendments before accepting it.

EDITING PHOTOS:

That image you just uploaded to your Photostream...it is missing something. Perhaps it is a big garish text overlay? Or a black and white filter the reflects your true mood? No, this won’t require going back and forth with the hottest new freelance editor on the scene, you can do this yourself!

Navigate to your Photostream and click the image you would like to edit.

Select the edit image icon on the bottom right, the pop-up will then allow you to Edit, Rotate, Replace or Delete. Click the edit option and the Flickr Photo Editor will overlay on your screen.

The editor provides you with a selection of features to enhance your image from the micro to the macro level. These include applying filters; adjusting specific elements, adding text/stickers, a brush option, blur/focus control and frames.

This may seem intimidating at first, but the toughest challenges always are. This is your Vader in the cave, you must conquer the editor and emerge knowing how to edit exactly what you need to.

If you are good enough you may even end up with something like this…

Once you have made the changes you want to, be sure to save, we don’t want your hard work going to waste!

Congratulations, another stage is complete. However, I sense the darkness has grown strong within, you must continue to fight it but for now, I shall address you as #SocialSith.

We can get through this, just be sure to return tomorrow to return to the light! Or allow the darkness to take you and

Stage 4 is now complete. You have taken the dark path for now, but all roads will move you closer to pulling your X - Wing from the Swamp and joining the @intschools rebellion. But that is not for today, today young #SocialSith, you shall rest...just away from me at the moment.

Be sure to keep an eye out for Stage 5 and your steps to becoming a #DigitalJedi.
